‘Get-there-itis’ is an unconscious bias blamed for a number of plane crashes over the years. It’s a tendency to stick with your original plan in the belief it will just about succeed, even when circumstances have changed and an outsider can see it is going wrong. It’s why pilots attempt a landing with the storm blowing in rather than turning back, and has led Leeds United to this point.
