By the time I was born, John Lukic had already made over 150 appearances for Leeds before moving to Arsenal. By the time I was attending Leeds games, the backpass rule had been introduced and John Lukic was a struggling goalkeeper in a changing Leeds team. It’s only since looking back at his promotion and title-winning seasons that I realise the huge amount of credit he had in the bank before I turned up, an ungrateful snot-nosed child, in 1993/94.
