Anticipating the unknown

When a footballer becomes a potential transfer target these days, they usually arrive with at least some kind of background we can easily learn about. There’s probably a website with a whole career story to give an idea of what qualities impressed the recruitment team — and there’s normally a raft of social media accounts so you can read, “The lads were great, we go again,” in their native language, or that of their current home.
