The Square Ball is at its best when railing against dodgy owners, incompetent managers or inept footballers. But this season we mercifully appear to have precious few of those things (the odd ‘penalty taking’ striker aside – I love you Pat but, bloody hell!). And so, as we seemingly semi-serenely play our way towards a heart-breaking play-off final loss to Southampton / Sunderland / Middlesbrough, it’s about time to find something else to complain about.
