As Jesse Marsch fist pumps his way around Elland Road after Leeds beat Bournemouth 4-3, he can hardly believe his luck. His job was hanging by a thread, but wins at Anfield and an astonishing comeback against a team tipped for relegation have saved him, for now.

In these games it was Leedsโ€™ young prospects who dragged them through. Marsch instructed the team to play like it does most weeks and, in the first half against Bournemouth, there was no clear plan for how Leeds were going to get back into the game.

Mainstays of the Leeds side, the proper professionals, were making a mess of it. Liam Cooper wasnโ€™t communicating with anybody, Jack Harrison forgot how to cross a football and Rodrigo was being Rodrigo. Our supposed first choice centre-forward, Patrick Bamford, couldnโ€™t get anywhere near fit enough to play consistently.
