My man, Bill
Luke Ayling’s contract extension has been the highlight of the season so far for me. I’m not being facetious; it genuinely made my week.
I know there’s an extremely low bar for highlights in this, our second season horribilis. And yes, I’ve heard or seen the counter-argument many times — he’s a Championship right-back who can be a liability in defence. But my inelegant gut response to that noise is — I really don’t care. ‘My man’ Luke/Bill Ayling transcends all of it.
