Tony Yeboah’s legend has its origins in Japan. Before Ao Tanaka glided into Beeston there was Yosuke Ideguchi. But Ideguchi wasn’t the first Japanese arrival at Elland Road. Once our long-standing marriage to Umbro broke off following the title win in 1992, after a brief twelve-month fling with old flame Admiral, in the summer of 1993 we unexpectedly hooked up with the Japanese sportswear manufacturer Asics in a deal that lasted three seasons.
