This is the sixth issue of TSBโs 35th season and Leeds Unitedโs 2024/25 title-winning campaign.
And we are officially getting giddy about this Leeds team โ a 7-0 win will do that to a supporter โ which is why the cover is graced with a beautiful illustration from Emily Tartanella befitting a beautiful bunch of boys.
Inside the mag, you’ll find from your favourite regular contributors:
- Chris McMenamy on Jock Stein’s 44 days at Leeds that are remembered very differently to another manager’s 44 days as manager at Elland Road
- Rob Conlon on Raphinha’s ascent to the best footballer in the universe right now, and how we taught him everything he knows
- Luke Brennan remembers the time he thought he was getting the autograph of a Leeds United legend, only to be left feeling quite daft
- Our agony aunt โ AKA Problem Chimp, AKA Michael Normanton โ on the pitfalls of insurance betting and advice on how to deal with Don bloody Goodman
- Plus scrapping with Super Leeds, sweating with Sean Gregan, Jayden Bogle being dead good, the guitar chords to Marching On Together, and loads more

Can I buy the magazine at Elland Road?
As always since 1989, barring pandemics and badly timed World Cups, The Square Ball magazine will be on sale outside Elland Road, for the match against Sunderland on Monday 17th February 2025. Just look out for our windswept but friendly sellers by the Lowfields tunnel, Billy’s Statue, the Kop gates, and anywhere else someone is holding a fanzine in the air, until about fifteen minutes before kick-off.
I’m a TSB+ member, where is the online magazine?
TSB+ members can read the magazine online now, either of two ways:
What else is in this issue?
Our now twelve times-nominated and two-times FSF Award winning fanzine, plus one for the podcast and as of 2022 one for ‘Fan Media’, includes lots of pages of articles and artwork about what used to be the pain but now is the glory which still involves pain of being a Leeds United supporter, for more than 100 long, long years.
Can I read something now? For free? Ah go on?
Free to read from this issue is Rob Conlon’s article on Raphinha gatecrashing what was meant to be the era of Erling Haaland vs Kylian Mbappeย โ click here to read that for free.
Also free in this issue, Luke Brennan on the most underwhelming Leeds United autograph of all time โ click here to read that one.
You can order paper copies of issue six from our online shop now, and they’ll be sent out as soon as they’re printed. To read a digital version online, please become a TSB+ member, with a one month free trial, here.
