The official Leeds United website claims that Andrew Gray is ‘forever remembered for a sterling performance as a youngster during the club’s 3-0 Coca Cola Cup defeat at the hands of Aston Villa in 1996’.
Now, I was a but a sprog at the time, significantly sproggier than even Andrew’s own sprog, Archie, recipient of the attempted pre-season leg-break from modern Aston Villa dirtbag, John McGinn, but I would be intrigued to know just how many appropriately-aged Leeds fans remember anything ‘sterling’ about that day at Wembley. If there was anything, though, Gray’s play was it, and it’s to the credit of the third member of the Gray clan to suit up for Leeds that any positives could be taken from the experience.
