30 years ago today, the Whites had the reverse of the opening day fixture from the 1990-91 season, when Everton came to town with their sulky keeper Neville Southall. This was a special occasion, too, as ITV’s Big Match broadcast its first ever live league game from Elland Road with Big Jack as part of its studio team.
